I'm glad to hear it.
The lesson to learn from this, and something to remember when others have similar problems, is that SMS apparently has a problem with the length of the strings in SMS.smb (possibly for other of the strings too, than you noticed), which will cause it to regard the SMB config as invalid/missing, so that the choice of using this protocol never is given to the user. And the really offensive part of this is that no message is given to the user about how one of the config files he/she supplied is internally rejected.
That error really should have resulted in a big fat popup window telling the user what happened !!!
So this is something EEUG urgently needs to fix.
Well, you apparently did most of the work yourself, with me around merely to assure you that the general form of your SMS.smb file was correct, as was most other parts of your setup. But I suppose you may have needed that assurance to be confident in looking for other causes of the problem (such as the string lengths).
In any case it's good to know you have it fully working now.
