Some more info might be handy,like is your ps2 a fat (old model)or a slim.
If its a fat and you want to insert an ide hdd into the ps2 drive bay,you are going to need a network adapter.
When i did mine i had trouble with the wd hdd been seen by the ps2. In the tutorials i've read,they tell you to use the master setting on the hdd jumper.But strangely my western digital hdd wouldn't work on master.After trying loads of different things,i finally thought of changing the jumper to cable select and bingo that did the job,worked first time! hth
